The main hall new gate at Jakhyung Gön Tekchen Yönten Dargyé Ling
Jakhyung Monastery is a major monastery of the Geluk school of Tibetan Buddhism, and is recognized as the birthplace of the tradition. It is located in Bayen county of Qinghai province. The monastery was established in 14th century by Chöjé Döndrup Rinchen, Jé Tsongkhapa’s tutor. Tsongkhapa gave his novice vows here and began his studies of the practices of sutra, mantra and dharma.
